Question: Chain letter: Have you participated in a chain letter for whatever reason and it WORKED?

I remember when i first started using e-mail when i was 12, and I would get these chain letters:
"Forward this to 10 people in the next 20 minutes and your crush will kiss you."

"Send this message to 20 people and the phone will ring" (haha this is the only one that worked and it freaked me out. I only did it to see if it'll work. And sure enough 7 minutes later like the chain letter promised the phone rang. Now I didn't answer the phone--someone got to it before I did. But I found it very odd... because it happened at 7:14 am on a weekday, I remember the exact time because I had a lot of time to kill before i went off to school and decided to check my e-mail; I figured who calls at this time... Never really happened before... especially after I participated in a chain letter.)

Answer: no they dont work. i think the phone ringing was just a coincidence..
